i have three icons near my lower right clock, and cant seem to find where to "not show". the two icons are one for adaptec direct cd wizard, and the other norton antivirus.

They are there I think, because they are actually running on your system, can't you just right click on them, and close/exit them, or maybe hide them??

Hi George,
You would need to disable them from starting up. To do this, goto Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. Click on System Information, wait for it to open and look for Tools. Click on it and look for System Configuration Utility. Click on that. It will then open up a Configuration Utility with a bunch of tabs to press. Press the one that says startup. Remove the checks from the programs (ie. Adaptec) that you do not want to run in the backround. You will then have to reboot you PC. You will no longer see those icons on the toolbar. Also, your resources with have a higher percentage after the reboot.
