a lil help with setting 2 computers to share a internet connection(dsl)

now, ive tried it before with cable modem...but me and my bro on 2 different computers, couldnt play the same game online, it would says something about ip address already being used, some ports being closed and that id have to open them...but i dont know how....so im going to try again with a DSL connection, i also have a router by speedstream...some say that i have to get a linksys but i dunno.

any tips would much appreciated

To me, a router is a router. Most of them serve the same purpose. The question is on how you set it up. I personaly would of just installed two nics in you computer hook you DSL, and a Cross cable to your bros computer directly into your computer. If your inexperienced with the router, this might be the way to go. I know that this work because that is what I'm doing right now. :D With Diablo 2, so if your router fails try this.

cross cable huh?!?!? lol, i am not network savvy...how the heck do i cross cable my bros comp to mine???
