Question client computer will not share on the home network

I have just built two pcs and was getting them both hooked up for the network and have run into a little problem. I can see the two computers on the server computer in the office, but when i try and set up the client pc in the kitchen it will not let me do anything. It just tells me that I don't have access rights to the network and to see the administrator for help. It can't find the other computer. They are both part of the same workgroup, but can't set up any kind of sharing between them. This is what it says," MSHome is not accessable. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of Servers for this workgroup are not currently available." I have no idea what this means. I have run the network floppy from the main computer in the office and tried to run the home network set up and they all seem to work just fine, but when i try to see the network computers i get this message. Both computers show up on the server computer in the office, but when i click on the Kitchen computer icon, it tells me that i can't access it from here either. I have run out of options, my expertice is only limited, can you please help me if you have any suggestions i would be very greatful. Thanks for your time.

On each computer you need to have user accounts setup with the same username and password. In other words if Joe uses machine 1, Bill uses machine 2, and Sue uses machine 3, Joe, Bill, & Sue need accounts on all machines.

Next you need to setup shares on each machine, with nothing shared you have no access.

I had similar error message on my network. The fix was as simple as configuring my firewall sofware to allow the access. Make sure all pc's have access to each other thru the firewalls.

'Course, if you have no firewall setup....then nevermind, and excuse the interruption.

I am experiencing the same problem... i thought it was one of those screwups i occasionally run into that become such a hassle to repair that a reinstall is easier... well... i reinstalled and it still does it... im running xp home. There are 2 other computers on my network and they can locate my computer via search and even brows my shares but i cant even see myself when i click to view workgroup computers. I can locate myself via search for computers but i cannot loacte them... One has norton internet firewall, but it didnt interfere when we first set up the network and it wouldnt explain not being able to see myself when i try to view workgroup connections or brwos my network places.

No solutions i have encountered on the net have corrected the situation. I even changed the hub with another one i had, updated the bios, nic drivers... everything i can think of.

im thoroughly confused.
