Newby Here; Wanted to clean up my desktop.Right clk .selected icons.on the drop down menue slelected the item to clean icons from desktop.Worked ok ,but decided that I needed some back .So went back rgt clk.desktop,clk icons, but the drop down menue is very pale and the last three items of which one restore your icons is completly gone. You should be able to create a new shortcut if you find the .exe file of that program on your harddrive and just create a shortcut. That would be the simple solution to a problem that sounds like it is something bigger.

go to your start button, all programs, find the programs you want shortcut for, right click on the link that starts the program, create shortcut.

Or you can go to your xp help and search for creating shortcut and it should take you step by step.
