powerpoint 2000

I create a slideshow consisting of about 20 pictures using powerpoint 2000.Then,i use the 'rehearse timing' option to set the time for each slide.Now,when i run the slideshow,i get a blank white screen before and after each slide.The white screen stays for the same time interval as the picture slide is supposed to stay.(i.e i think the white screen is also considered as
a slide.)but i don't see any white screen when i open the .ppt file and view all the pictures.There are exactly 20 slides.
any help?

Sounds like the white page is your slide, then the show adds the picture, moves to the next blank slide then adds the next picture etc etc.

You need to look at the animation settings (timings gives you slide transitions but timing of objects on the page is controlled by the animation settings).
