Max RAM?

Can anyone tell me what the MAX RAM limit is on win ME? Or how to install 1 gig of RAM in it...(assuming my mobo has enough slots)

also, is it possible to have an un-partitioned 60Gb Hard drive? cheers!

Windows Me is not designed to handle more than 1 GB of RAM. More than 1 GB can lead to potential system instability.

MSKB: Computer May Reboot Continuously with More Than 1.5 GB of RAM (Q304943)

It is possible to have an un-partitioned 60Gb Hard drive. The only problem is that windows will not recognize or see the hard drive.

If you want a Gig of memory, most people usually use two 512 MB RAM sticks. It's all up to you and how many memory slots your MOBO has. Most of the newer MOBOs have 2 or 3 slots.

No, that is not true. If your computer has more than 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of memory (RAM), the computer may reboot continuously when you try to start Windows Millennium Edition (Me) or Windows 98.

Or, when you try to install Windows Me or Windows 98 with more than 1.5 GB of RAM installed, Setup may stop responding (hang) or reboot continuously.

CAUSE
Windows Me and Windows 98 are not designed to handle more than 1 GB of RAM. More than 1 GB can lead to potential system instability.

For more info here.

in order to run more then 1 gig of ram you need first to set vcache in sysini
it should look something like this

minfilecache=whatever you specify
MaxFileCache=whatever you specify

min file really doesn't matter what its set at, the maximum should be set for about a quarter of your hard drive space.
I didnt do this when I added mine and crashed so bad, I almost had to do a reinstall but I just popped out one of my 512s and was able to make my settings then
