Hi everyone. I just bought musicmatch jukebox deluxe v8 Burner Plus cd/mp3
at Best Buy Electronic Store. But I am confused as to whether this is a basic or a plus version. I dont want a trial period that is going to expire as is what has happened to my sister who already had it installed when she got her computer from dell. I've been to musicmatch site but they dont support the retail version for questions just Basic or Plus and mine is deluxe burner plus. so does anyone know what i do have? I havent opened it or installed it yet incase it is a trial thing like my sister had. Would appreciate if anyone could help me that has bought this already.
I was not able to use my retail version of easy cd creator 5 platnium my xp did not like this program even with the update. So I bought MusicMatch Jukebox Deluxe Burner Plus cd/mp3.
Everyone I know with xp has this program already on their computer So this is why I bought this one. Come to find out its only a trial that quits working as my sister just told me when i told her i bought this.
I hope mine is a full version. Best Buy had it on sale for 29.99.
Thank You in advance

Hello there CherylC, I have been using MM for more than 3 years now and like it enough to not have tried anything else since purchasing it (online though).

Did the boxed version come with an 'upgrade key'? it would likely be a series of alphanumeric characters, four sets of five characters separated by a dash. If so then this is your 'upgrade key' which unlocks the standard version and makes it MM Pro. I believe if you're using the standard 'skin' of MM then the logo changes from just stating that it is MusicMatch to stating it is MusicMatch Pro.

Here is the page from their knowledge base on their website...

and some more pertinent links...

Thank You for Replying twistedcranium.
Yes on the backof the cd still sealed in the white envelope is a key code as you described 4 sets of alpha numeric separated by a dash along with a mx gold subscription user id number and password.
As I said i have not installed it as to not open it so i could return it if it is the basic trial version that i will have to pay for again. I've been to there site and they do not support the retail version the retail version is put out by a company named and i've pasted here what they say

Yup, you have the Pro version and NOT the basic. They're just covering their butts with that language since they aren't the ones who replicated the CDs and boxed them up. They partnered with that other company.

in not so many words addresses this. I know these are only 'my words' but I think you're perfectly OK in going full tilt into opening the box and installing. Although, if you're like I used to be with such things, you might want to wait until someone here who purchased the program the same way that you did comes along and confirms this.

***I would like to say that if I'm wrong, I'd buy that copy from ya...LOL...but then that would just 'jinx it' now wouldn't it?***

Thank You again twistedcranium.
I believe you could be right after sifting through alittle bit more of their site.
You have just made my teenagers very happy they can make cds!!!!!
If it is a wrong it really wouldnt hurt to have to pay 19.99 more i guess through their site. I thank you so much for your input you really did make some sense of this for me.
I sure hope it will recognize my cd burner windows xp is just using the adapti driver for a 52speed cdrw drive. I really dont know what the brand name of the cd burner is. no name on the front of the burner. But roxio recognized it so i'm sure musicmatch will too.
Thanks again twistedcranium.

and a tip for ya too if you're going to use MM on Windows XP:

you'll want to remove the splashscreen and startup sound from the program, because it will get annoying when wanting files to play instantly and it could mess with the graphics a little at the start

how to do this in MM:

in the install directory of MM (likely C:\program files\musicmatch\musicmatch jukebox) there are two files named
splash.bmp
and
mmjbstart.wav

rename them to something like...
splash_DONTSHOW.bmp
and
mmjbstart_DONTPLAY.wav

This way they wont be found by the program when it starts. **The MM support site suggests to delete these files, but in the 'cover your butt' tradition that I like to follow, it is often best to slightly RENAME a file such as this in case you need it later on**
