I have a Dell dimension 8250, Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ , 60 meg hard drive, and 256 ram. It seems very slow with lots of paging noises. I have increased Virtual memory to 1000 min and 2000 max and seems to have improved a bit. Also I have run Norton, AVG, spyware and all show no probs. I don't use computer for ganmes much but intend to try downloading which also seems slow (cable slow connection) . Will upgrading RAM make much difference or are there other things to try first

Hi buddy....have you done all the usual things? Disk cleanup/Defrag/Empty temp files (offline and on)

We could also take a look at what is running on your comp to rule out any probs there.
Download 'Hijack This!'create a new folder and put hijack into it Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, Check for updates first by clicking the config then tools buttons. and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, click "Save Log", and copy and paste it in a reply.
http://mjc1.com/files/merijn/HijackThis.exe It will show what's running on your computer...Don't make any changes until
someone checks it out.;)

theres tons of reasons why a computer might be slow. could be your virtual memory, your physical RAM, the amount of programs in your startup, fragmented hard disk.... Heres a good guide for some things to help fix a Slow Computer (http://www.songwave.com/allguides/speedcomp.aspx).

best thing to do is to check the things I mentioned above.

Sirarthur, I know what you're offering is only $1.99, but tell me why anyone here would want to pay for any info' at all? We here at CTH offer help for free, and I'm pretty darn sure that what you offer for money, can quite easily be resolved here for free!! :)

With this in mind, and no matter the price you are charging, this has to be considered as a SPAM post, and that's against the Cyber Tech Help Terms Of Usese, you might want to go find it, and have a ead through it!! :)
