scandisk help among other things

scandisk error box says it has started 10 times because windows or some other program has been writing to this drive. Am a serious novice.

Also cannot play Sims as it kicks out to windows when brought up

Has this always happened or just recently? What's going on when it does happen?
Have you tried reinstalling the game?

It started happening about 5 months ago-Sims was played incessantly. Now it kicks out to the desktop within a few minutes of starting the program. I went to HELP and to Compaq support-no help there. I did a scandisc=no errors, but on a more thorough scandisc it said I had programs running that were interferring. SO I defraged and cleaned out all files and folders and temp internet folders etc.I scanned for virus' and none were found. I updated the virus acan and still none. I got rid of all things that might steal memory and still had the same problem.

I haven't a clue on how to fix The Sims game at all. You could try uninstalling it and the installing it in a differnet folder other than the default folder a typical install would put it in. :(
