"Check signal cable"appears on monitor
I have an older pc that quit working while I was online. The machine just shut off and I was not able to reboot. The only thing that came up was a "check signal cable" alert on the monitor. I checked all cables and connections, replaced the power supply, replaced the video card. Still nothing. Could it be the main board has gone bad? thanx

Seems like the Monitor is receiving power but no signal from the PC.
Does the PC have power? Does the PSU fan spin? Do the drives spin? Is there power to any CD drives?

Welcome to the group,
Are you getting any type of noise or lights when you turn the power on? Is the fan in the new power supply working?

no signal on monitor
I too am getting a "No signal to monitor" message when I switch on my computer. There is no problem with the power supply as the CPU fan is working, the hard disk and power LED is working too. One thing though - usually, when i switch on the computer, the hard disk led lights up and then flickers to show activity. Now it just lights up and stays on.Even the lights on my DVD drive and CDRW drives light up and flicker. What do you think could be the problem? I've tried clearing the CMOS and removed the battery for sometime and replaced it. No change.
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can come up with. |
