Have you tried the XP Networking Wizard?

If you're not having luck then try disabling the XP Firewalls while setting up the network.

Question

Thats the thing, what settings should i go thru using the connection wizard, there are many different options to go thru and i have no idea which one is right, i tried it before using trial and error 'if u will'!

i got it in the end but after i restarted the pc's the settings were reset to my normal internet cable settings since i have this program from cable company that resets the connection preferences everytime computer restarts

so i just looking for a way to get the network running as quickly as possible without having to go thru all that trial and error u know....

Thanks

OK, there are a few other things to sort out.

How is your PC connected to the Cable Modem?
Can you disable the cable company software until you get your network sorted?

set pc 2 to ipaddreess 192.168.0.2 same subnet mask

try to ping pc 2 from pc 1
