Help! My system restore doesn't work. No matter which checkpoint I choose to use, it will start and then the little progress bar on the screen will hit just short of halfway and my computer automatically will restart and then say it was unsuccessful. You should know that i have over 3/4 of my hard drive open so i have plenty of room. I checked the config thru device manager- performance tab- file system- and it shows full amount of space given for restore. What else can i check? not one single point i tried worked!

Hi turbo,
Try the Restore patch from microsoft. Check the link below and see if it applies. If so, download and install the patch listed on the page.

Hi Turbo. Maxximillian is right. Mine did the same thing. I downloaded the patch and now everything works great. Good luck!

Sure....you can download the file and transfer to a floppy disc. Then run the file on your machine at home. Just click on the download link on the page I posted above, and instead of running from current location, save the file to disk. Then just take the critter home with you and run it on the machine in question. :)

okay, thanks, I just Downloaded it to my disk and will try it when i get home. Its good that it will be fixed...except that i read that my checkpoints prior to doing the fix won't work so i still have a problem! i want to restore!! (hoping to fix my online problems...) oh well, beggars can't be chosers i guess! :)

Sorry to hear about the lost restore points. Microsoft really screwed up on this one. The patch was always available at Windows Updates, but people like me who prefer to do things myself could have easily missed this patch. Actually, I found out about it awhile ago at a forum such as this.
I'll take a look at your other post in the internet forum and see what I can find. :)
