View Full Version : Zone alarm trouble?

Hello, I just installed zone alarm on a friends pc and right away i had trouble accessing his aol and everytime i go to a web page it was very slow coming on (if it came on at all) He has windowsME! Also i went into my Yahoo email and it would not delete my mail! I can understand that because my mail is a different pc and maybe that has alot to do with it! But why would I have trouble access aol and why is everything so slow when surfing web pages? As soon as i disconnected the zone alarm everything went pretty much back to running ok! Any suggestions or tips on running zone alarm more smoothly?

There has always been an issue with AOL and zonealarm not working and playing well together. Both claim the problem was fixed, but I have my doubts. The original workaround was to set Zonealarm security levels to medium. Give this a try and see what happens.

What version of AOL is it? I have used ZA with AOL 5.0 and 6.0 and never had any problems with either as far as AOL was concerned...

I'll try the Medium security and see what happens, Thanks, and Dodge he is using 5.50 Also how come i get a square black box icon with a Yellow in it one time and another time i get a box with a ZA in it(on the taskbar) It seems it works better when the black box and yellow X are there! when i put my mouse pointer on it, it says True Vector security service is shut down! (GO figure)

I did what maxximilian suggested and put it on Medium and things are working better now! Can Dodge or anyone answer this for me>>>I am still at my friends house and like i said i installed Zone Alarm on his windows ME, NOW I would like to know can we access his computer from my home on my XP? Because Zone alarm may stop us! Is there a setting that i can put zone alarm on, so we can access his computer without zone alarm stopping us? Or is this just not going to happen? I have to know now so when we are back at my house, we can pick up his mail etc.! Please let me know, TOM
