Pleeeeeeze Help!
I don't know too much about hardware problems. 1. The computer started out saying that IPHLPAPI.DLL file was missing. 2. Then the error msg. said that WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSVCR70.DLL was corrupt. I tried to extract this file and installed a copy of this file on the computer and then it said that the MSVCP70.DLL file is linked to missing export MSVCR70.DLL_JOB_FUNC. 3. Next the ASPI2DOS.SYS was missing and QAZWSX.HSG came up on Notepad. 4. My computer will only start in Safemode. I did a Scan Disk on it in safemode it said that it repaired the errors, but I'm still having these problems. 5. The last thing it said was that it could not find SYSTEM. INI. - Boot with Emergency Boot Disk and type SCAN / REG. I don't have a ME Boot Disk. I tried to download it from this site, but it said I'm not allowed to download it. Can someone please tell me what the problem could be and what I an do to fix it? Thanking you in advance for your assistance! Last edited by mstuck23; April 16th, 2004 at 04:53 PM. |

Welcome
![]() Could you do a System Restore? If not then you could try a repair install of the OS. This means to instsall Windows over its self. It will keep your files & settings, but replace the system files. You can get a bootdisk from http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

You don't need the Windows ME cd to do a system restore.
Also, you may be able to get away without it for a repair install. Just start the repair from C:\Windows\Options\Install\Setup.exe

My computer will only operate in SafeMode!
I found out that my computer has the QAZWSX.HSQ Virus. I read on the internet that you are suppose to use SYSCLEAN to remove it, but it is too big for a floppy. Is there anyway I can download this to a floppy? Also, I keep getting the message (High Security Alert) "I'm not permitted to download the file". It's suppose to be freeware!. I don't know if its a problem because I'm trying to download it at work and maybe their firewall will not let me download utilities. Is there anyway getting around this problem? Thanking you in advance for any assistance |

Try zipping the file (or send to Compressed Folder)
If you cannot put it on CD then you can use HJSplit to split the file into sections. But them on 2 floppies and then rejoin them on the other pc then run the program. http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32
