Has anyone encountered a ScanDisk problem, where no bad sectors are found but Win Me
setup still refuses to continue the install?
I have Win 98 and have run a full surface
scan and defrag on my c drive - but Win Me
still refuses to install.
Is there a better disk utility to use
than ones with Windows?

Are you getting any error messages?

I received the following error:
"Setup cannot check your system. Quit setup and check your hard disk before running setup again.
Run ScanDisk from Windows to check and repair all of your drives. When this is done, run Setup / is to bypass the system check.
When you exit Setup, any hidden windows Setup needed will become visible. Close these before running ScanDisk. For more info see Setup.txt on the Win ME CD Rom."

Any suggestions?
I also get a recoverable windows system error
when I boot up Win 98. Once I hit a key,
it continues to boot -- I assume this is because I started to install WIN ME but
was not allowed to finish. The Win 98 startup
continues without problems after that.

Sorry for the wait, but work has been a nightmare as of late. Are you trying to install WinME over Win98?

Yes, I am trying to upgrade to WIN ME
from Win 98.

This is probably a stupid question but is the WinME CD an upgrade CD or a full version CD?
In all honesty, it is probably best to format your hard drive and install WinME from scratch on a clean hard drive. :(
