They are part of System Restore.
To diable System Resore goto System Properties>Performance>File System>Trouble Shooting and Disable System Restore.

Apart from disabling system restore, which can come in handy.

Found this thread with Google.
I have System Restore disabled since I use GoBack instead. Nevertheless, I have over 4 GB of files in the c:\_restore\temp folder. Some of them have "Modified" dates that go back 10 years before my current OS was installed on this PC. What gives? Why isn't this folder empty?
Also, mixed in with all the .CPY files is 155 MB of various files showing in the "Type" column as "0 File", "1 File" and "2 File." The largest of them is a 122,880 MB file named "WIN386.0". Can I just dump the entire contents of this directory?
And does anyone know where GoBack stores its archive? It doesn't seem to be in c:\Program Files\Roxio\GoBack.
Thanks,
Clint
