What happens when you try to save a file to the floppy? Does the light come on? Stay on?

Is the file your trying to save 1.44 MB or larger? Is there other stuff on the floppy? May not be enough room. Havve you tried different floppies?
Reboot the machine, then when you see starting windows tap the F8 key at the menu select Copmmand Prompt, which will bring yopu to the C:\windows Now put a floppy in that you know has data and type the following: A: (hit <enter>) Should bring you to the A:\> prompt Now type dir (hit <enter>) does it read the floppy????
