I'm on a NT4 network. I've just taken one wkst. off the network and am replacing it with another. The new one already has a hostname, how do I change it to take the old computers hostname?
Thanks,

I'm a junior member too, but it seems pretty straightforward:
1) Delete the SID for the old machine account from server manager
2) Recreate the SID for the new machine (doesn't matter if its the same name as the old one)
3) Join the machine to the network. (If you recreated the new SID via Server Manager, you can just rename the new machine offline and then bring it on the network after specifying what domain you want to join it to). If you didn't create the new SID in Server Manager, then you can join the machine to the network at the same time you specify the domain name provided you have an administrator account and pswd.
hope that helps!

Thanks Much. It does sound straight forward. I'll give a try.
