Red face Partitions

Hello, I'm new here.....I downloaded Windows 2000, over Windows Me...twice..now when I boot up my system a page opens asking me do I want to open 1) Microsoft Windows 2000 2) Microsoft Windows 2000 and 3) Microsoft Windows..does this mean i loaded up windows 2000 twise and they each went to a different partition? I would like to just delete Windows 2000 and go back to Windows Me. Since I did all this I've lost all my music files on Windows Me. I've searched for the files in Start / Search / for files and folders.....with no luck in finding the MP3 and WAv files. Did I loose em all together? Main Q, is how do I delete the two Window 2000's from my system...Thanx

Welcome

The Operating Systems is just how Windows2000/XP works when adding a new OS.
It will add them to the boot.ini file.

It doesn't actually mean that there are 3 OS's installed.

When you first installed 2000 did you choose to format & install? as that would have deleted your mp3's & data.

I would suggest that you format and install.
You can do this from using a bootdisk to format the drive.

You can use the disk tools provided by your harddrive manufacturer or use a windowsME bootdisk from http://www.bootdisk.com

If you put your ME CD into the drive it should give you the option to format/delete. You won't need a bootdisk unless for some reason this option isn't working. Like he said though, your best option is to format and install. Unfortunately this will cause a loss of all files on your computer and start you from scratch.

If you did in fact partition your drive to run 2 OS's you would see multiple hard drives under My Computer. If that's the case, you might be searching under the wrong drive when looking for your missing files. If you can't find them through the find feature, there more than likely gone. You might also want show your hidden files then try a new search for them. It probably wont turn anything up, but it's worth it. Just remember to hide them again when you're done.
