No windows & no \dir

I can no longer acess my windows. I dont have a floppy boot disk for ME. But I do have it on cd rom. Is there a way to boot off this cd rom?? I have the BIOS set to CD but it wants a disk in the A:\ drive. Anyone know of any solutions to this?

when I type in C:\dir it comes up saying:

volume in drive C has no label

any thought on this problem would be great!

Welcome :)

You can download & run this file to create a Windows ME startup disk
http://www.24by7.ca/files/bootme.exe

You should then be able to boot into DOS.
It should say on screen during the boot process what drive letter is assigned to your CD-ROM.

You can then start the setup by typing the path to the setup.

e.g.
d:\setup.exe

I made the disk, but when I put it in, I get:

NTLDR is missing
press any key to restart

Did you save the file to disk or did you run it to create the startup floppy?


Also, NTLDR is a NT (XP) file.

Did the PC have XP on it?
Are you wanting to format it and load Windows ME?
