We are running NT4 workstation(SP6) on normal NCR PC's(Pentium 233, 32mb RAM, 2Gb HDD, 6x DB9 comms ports, etc.) and I can not get the keyboard working under NT or our home designed application.
The event viewer says:
(source = i8042prt)
The ring buffer that stores incoming data has overflowed (buffer size is configurable via the registry)

The keyboard works in DOS and BIOS though. I have tried the following:
1 different keyboards
2 resetting the BIOS
3 increasing the keyboard ringbuffer size
4 rebooting millions of times
I am  please help me before I go  !!!

Hi,

This is a bit of a stab in the dark because I have never come across this error before, but take a read of the following article :

MSKb Q106373 (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q106/3/73.asp)

and see if this applies sufficiently to your problem.

If not, pls post back and I'll put my thinking cap on :)

EDIT: Hrm just reread the article and your post and what is in the article you appear to have tried. I'll have a good think on this...

Thanks MishY
I have tried to increase the buffer size in the registry. I thank you for your quick reply and I appreciate that you would investigate the problem further.

I went from  to

Hi,

Is this a multimedia keyboard ? the one in question ?

Have you tried updating the drivers for it ?

Also, have you updated your BIOS recently ?

If you've had this exact setup working fine previously have you added any new software or hardware ?
