sound stopped working

i have win 2000 and downloaded a driver for my Mustek scanner from the Mustek site. when i did that all sound stopped working on the computer. i removed the driver but still no sound and the sound card says it is working perfectly. i even unplugged the scanner, still no sound. Please help am at my wits end!!!

Have you tried to reinstall the sound drivers? It is very possible that your sound drivers were over writen or corrupted with the new scanner.
