recently installed win 2000 on my computer, used to be a compaq but its not anymore since I changed the harddrive and also flashed the bios. had to reinstall zip drive driver and after that sound is not working anymore. I had reinstalled the driver for the sound car (ess solo I PCI) and its still not working. I am not sure if the softpaq from compaq will work since BIOS not compaq anymore. Please help!!!

Let me get this strait, you flashed the COMPAQ BIOS with a different vendors BIOS.

This is not good. I would Flash the BIOS with COMPAQs BIOS. I can almost guarantee that your sound will be fixed.

yes I did but I don't think you understand. the bios is from compaq but it really was never compaq. Also you should know that you can not replace a compaq HD with another brand without flashing the BIOS with the original BIOS info. the Motherboard does not recognize any HD other than compaq HD if not flashed. I was not about to pay $500 for a compq HD and paid $100 for a 60G WD hard drive. I have installed win 2000 without a problem on my computer and more than happy that its not a compaq anymore. The sound card I have realized has to do with AOL.
thanks for the reply.
