Hello, when I install EasyCdCreator on my
old computer, it locks up while rebooting
into windows. The only way I can
gain access is to go into safe mode and
delete EasyCD or boot into the "last known
good configuration". (which corrupts
EasyCD)

I'm using Window2000 Pro, but I upgraded it
from win98. I've heard this version of
EasyCD won't run on an upgraded OS only on a
clean install. So is there a workaround for
this or do I have to reinstall windows2000?

Btw, can I reinstall Windows2k without
having to reformat my HD?(I'd like to keep
all of my files that I have on my HD)

Best thing to do, is not to go with Roxio, I personally have had way too many problems with their software, it causes so much stress just about every single day on my computer. Just try a different Program, like Nero, or anything, just not anything that Roxio makes, you might even wanna try going back down to your previous OS, and see if it works there, then eliminate problems as you go along.

I've used EasyCdCreator 4.5 before without
any problems. I've tried Nero before and had
problems with it making alot of CD coasters.

you might even wanna try going back
down to your previous OS

Is that even possible without completely
removing the OS I'm using now?

You can do a repair install. That you you won't lose any data. I would go to Rovio's website and look for updates to EZCD Creator 5.

Did you install the program when you were logged on as Admin or did you install it as a user with Admin rights? Believe it or not, this small thing can cause a world of problems. :)

I was logged on as a user with Admin rights.

However, I don't believe this is the problem
because on Roxio's website they state you
have use a "clean" OS not one upgraded from
another. (which I've done)

So the question is: How do I do a clean
install without having to reformat my HD?

Sadly, you will have to do a format in order to get a clean install. :(

I take it deleting my windows folder and
reinstalling Win2k won't work? =\

I couldn't tell you in al honesty. I have never tried before. I think that if you did that though, you would have loads of registry problems.

I'm thinking the registry would just be
wiped out? Therefore, couldn't I just reload
it from a backup?
