Hi all

Im wondering if it is possible to get Outlook Express 6 to notify me when i have new email without having to open it the actual program.

Im having to currently open Outlook Express 6, go inot inbox and wait while it checks to see if i have any new email.

Is there anything like in MSN where when your signed into messenger in notifies you when you have new email.

Any info would be great

Thanks guys

Iggy

I use the freeware, HideOE (http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2&show=hideoe). It minimizes OE to the System Tray while leaving it running to check for email at the intervals you specify in OE's Tools>Options>General tab and to play any mail alert sound you set Control Panel>Sounds>New Mail Notification and enabled in OE>Tools>Options>General tab, "Play sound when new messages arrive."

One click on the HideOE icon in the System Tray opens OE, one click on the HideOE icon minimizes it back to the System Tray.

You said you have to "go into inbox" when you open OE. You can have it open directly to the Inbox by enabling that feature in OE>Tools>Options>General tab, check "When starting go directly to my Inbox."
