Outlook 2002 - each time a new email is sent to the OUTBOX containing unsent mail one of the unsent items is opened thus preventing it being sent.
Any suggestions how to rectify would be very much appreciated

do you know which email it shows being opened? If so, try deleting. Also you can try the repair feature of outlook. Click on help.

Thanks for your replies. Still not resolved the problem which is on a new machine running XP Home (SP1 + all MS critical updates from Windows Update) and Office XP 2002 Small Business Edition (SP1 & SP2 not installed). The last email sent to the outbox will open each time a new email is sent to the Outbox. Whenever the Outbox is accessed to check the status of the emails contained therein an additional email will be open.

Have tried "detect & repair" without success. Data was imported into the PST from Outlook Express on the "old" machine. Could the problem be caused by a corrupt folder or the PST file? Maybe I should delete them a start again or simply try reinstalling Office?
