to do a clean install is good. i was upgrading from 98se to 2k pro..i didnt clean install because i couldnt find my photoshop and illustrator cd. so i copied over 98 and i realized that when i do unhide in folder options a win98 folder is there.

i found the cds and did a clean install but when i reboot the pc it seems like win 2k didnt do a clean install or i must have done something wrong because it goes to a dual boot when the pc starts back up and i didnt want to add a second copy of win 2k i wanted to clean everything off and have it alone..

what would be the suggestion to get everything off so that i could reinstall win 2k and have it on the harddrive as the primary os.would i go to dos and delete the windows directory or do i just do another clean install and look for some type of option that would clean everything off, so i can start from scratch.

When you said clean install what did you do? Did you fdisk, format, what. When you upgraded to 2000 pro did you go NTFS or stay FAT32?

If you stayed fat32 than you can FDisk your drive and format and that will take care of it. If you choose to go NTFS then I would suggest downloading Delpart.exe. This can take out an NTFS. It is a small program and ealisly fits onto a floppy.

Just let me know

If you changed it to an NTFS partition, it reformatted the drive for you. I have seen the dual boot option come up after formatting once before, but not sure why? To get rid of the dual boot option all you have to do is right click my computer, click the advanced tab, go to startup and recovery, and take out the check that says display list of operating systems. Then it will boot to the defaule OS without getting the dual boot screen.
