I have win2k installed on my computer, i uninstalled office xp to reinstall it at a later date, went to install it yesterday, it said file not found D:\OFFICE1.CAB the file was clearly there, and i know i had access to it. so that wasn't the problem, i tried to install office 2000, didn't work, same error, so, i reinstalled win2k, didn't do anything. So, i'm at a loss as to what to do. Could somebody please help as i can't use it for a project that's due on friday!

Thanks for all the help

When you reinstalled Windows, did you do a complete fresh install, meaning did you format the computer or did you do an overinstall and just install Windows 2000 on top of it self?

I did an overinstall, because if i format, all the work i have done is GONE. My cd burner has crapped out on me, and i gave up on that.

Once again, thanks.

Go to Microsoft and download the Eraser2000 tool which will remove all trace of Office 2000 from the machine.

Then try re-install.
For information about the files and registry settings that the utility
removes, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base

Now, if it were office 2000 that i was trying to get rid of, or install, that might actually be the solution, but since it's not, thanks for trying.

i tried to install office 2000, didn't work, same error, so, i reinstalled win2k . . . .

Gaylan Carl,

I thought that the Office 2000 install was the problem you are having. Could you please tell us what you are needing to get fixed.

Thanks.

Theo.
