I get SOME emails with .doc extentions, not all. When not windows opens a box to select a program and none work. Windows XP and Office XP work fine.

Welcome :)

Are you sure that these are Word Document (.doc) files from a reputable source?
They could be virii.
Also if you have your OS to Hide File Extensions then the proper extension may be hidden.

Another point is that your Email Program may be vetting and altering these files first if it is set to screen possible security risks.

The emails are from work, should be good. I get SOME so the OS is OK. I have been through weeks of work with Netzero, it should not be the ISP.

Hi,
Just re-read your first post and you mention that it's the Emails that have the .doc extension?

Usually a .doc file would be sent as an attachment
