View Full Version : Outlook Express Problem

Hi all

Ive just started having a problem with Outlook Express 6. I open it and it displays a blue screen that says wanadoo homepage along with a search box. I cannot get into inbox or any other folder. I had recently started using Hide OE and have uninstalled it thinking it may have been that caused it but its still the same. Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Iggy

download, install in own folder, run, save log, and copy/ paste your log from hijackthis. Someone will look at it and see if there is something there.

Does the page cover the Inbox links?
Could you post a screen shot of it?

Have you recently been transferred to wanadoo?

Hi

It looks to be covering the dropdown menu where inbox, outbox, drafts etc are usually. How do i do a screen shot of it and post it?

I have changed to wanadoo recently from freeserve which i know is only a name change. It does now say however outlook express provided by wanadoo and not freeserve.

Thanks

Iggy

To post a screenshot you would have to open a paint, graphics package.
The open Outlook Express and press the Print Scrn button on your Keyboard.

Then go back into the Graphics package and use the paste option to paste the image.
Save it (jpg) and then upload it to webspace.

On another point, in Outlook Express goto Edit>Layout> and make sure Folders List is checked.

Hi Degsy

When i go to edit, it wont let me select anything other than 'Find' and i cannot see 'Layout' at all.

Ive done the screen print and saved it as Jpg but am stuck with the 'Upload to webspace' bit. Can you explain this please?

Thanks

Iggy

Do you have any webspace where you can store the image online? (maybe from your ISP)

btw, sorry, it should be View>Layout>

Hi again

I found layout in 'view' not 'edit'. The Folders list is checked.

Hi Degsy

Try this, ive created my own page and it has the screenshot of Outlook Express on it

http://iggyspage.mysite.freeserve.com/

Go to 'Your Page 1' to see screenshot, its small but i hope it will be sufficient.

When did this start?
Could you use System Restore to restore back to a point before the problem?

You could also try a repair of Internet Explorer (& OE)

It started today (22/5/04).

I ve had a problem with about:blank recently that has now been sorted, is it alright to use system restore?

What was the problem with about:blank?

If it was an easy fix then I would suggest a System Restore.

IggyStooge
May 23rd, 2004, 12:47 PM
It was a CWS hijack that took about 4 weeks to get rid of.

Its only down to the help i got from this site that its gone. AnneMarie advised me on what to do to get rid and it did seem quite complicated. I used CWShredder and Hijack This.

One thing for sure i dont want it back.

I think if you do a System Restore then re-run CWS and Hijackthis you should be able to correct both problems.

Ive done sytem restore and all seems ok now. Outlook Express appears normal and there is no sign of anything on CWShredder. Here is the log from hijack this if u can check it, thanx.

No sure about these
C:\WINDOWS\NCLAUNCH.EXe - Apparently to do with a SWF program
C:\WINDOWS\sllights.exe - Apparently to do with a Modem/Motherboard.

So what should i do about the 2 things u mentioned above? Are they likely to cause problems?

Depends if you have software installed that it running them.
If it is software that you have installed then they should be fine.

You can always remove them and see if you have any problems.
Remember that HiJackthis has a Restore/Backup section.
