2000 Explorer Shortcuts

The shortcut links "My Network PLaces" and "My Computer" to the left just under "see also" starting lets say in the my documents folder, have stopped working. This is for the most part, is a minor irritation to me, short of the complaining that I hear comming from somewhere between the keyboards and the seats. So I thought I would ask if anyone knows first, what Microsoft calls those links? Do they have an actual name? Because in order to find anything in the MS Knowledge Base, it helps to know what the thing your looking for is called. Secondly, why they might not work? They work after the initial install, then stop sometime during the installation of the service packs. I am using OEM 2000 installation disks. One came with SP4. The links on THIS system did not work from the start. Does anyone have any ideas?
