I have just installed a new WD 40GB HDD into my computer and friday I formatted and started to install W2K Pro. As the HDD formatted fine and installation began I started to have problems. As the W2K install shield progressed I got to the part where it brings up a dialog box stating that it was going through 4 steps. The steps included, Saving Settings and Removing Temp Install Files. I believe that this is the second or third screen after you put the Serial Number in. Well, the OS install gets about half way through the "Saving Settings" and the computer reboots.

Anyone have any idea on what is happing? Any help on this would help greatly. I think I have it narrowed down to the board or the RAM.

Thanks.

I was just about to say that it could be a ram faulty. To check the ram, go to:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Download and copy it into a floppy. Then run it and let it do a scan for a while to see if any errors show up.
