I need to reformat my laptop and need to find out the best way to back up my mail and folders in Outlook (XP). I have a variety of folders set up with important documents/emails in each that I can not lose.

If I export and import, what would be the best file format to save as and would it then be imported to give me back the folders in the same way as I started with?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome :)

Here is a tutorial
http://www.sitedeveloper.ws/tutorials/outlook.htm

There are also programs available to do it for you.
A friend uses Genie and it is very easy to use.

Thanks Degs,

since my outlook is not "internet only mail" I guess I will go ahead and purchase the Genie software. It looks like a good program that will take care of it all for me. I like the free option better, but this seems to be the only solution, for $50.

thanks,
Rob

Hi,
I would still take a look through the tutorial as I would think the process would be similar.

Genie was only a recommedation because I have seen it in use.
You may find some free backup programs on the net.
