Outlook 2000 Problem

I am using Outlook 2000 on an XP Pro desktop. I keep getting an error ". . windows encountered . . . will close program", etc. within minutes every time I run it. As long as I do not click on a button (e.g., "Don't Send"), Outlook continues to run normally, except that it will not synch e-mail with my PPC device -- although it sinks all else (e.g., cal., contacts, etc.) -- it starts to synch and after a short time it stops and disconnects from the PPC. I thought it might have been adware, malware, etc. so I ran adaware and did the Hijack THis routine, but although I beleive the bad stuff to be gone, the Outlook problem persists. I tried unistalling the Outlook component and reinstalling it again, but it's not any better. Help!

Error Contents

It is the typical pop-up dialogue box indicating that "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
It asks whether to send the report to MS. The error report header reads as follows:

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2416 ModName: fldpub.dll
ModVer: 9.0.2518.0 Offset: 0002a149

Outlook continues to run OK for the most part if you click "Don't Send" on the dialogue box. If you do, then it closes down. In addition to not synch'g the e-mail without disconnecting and hanging, it appears that the Netfolders are not working like they should either.

I have backed up the PST file. Is there a more thorough way to uninstall outlook than using the setup file from the Office disk so that it will be corrected if I re-install it?
