Which program did you download? I've used one called Cerebus, had no real problems with it.

Are you sure the other users aren't blocking with their firewall?

It also helps to know what client they are trying to use to access your FTP or if they are using IE. And I know it sounds silly, but try connecting to yourself. If you can't connect to yourself then there's a software configuration problem.

Also, check the settings to see if passive connections are accepted. If they are not try enabling it.

I too would recommend Cerberus.

On another not though, how are they accessing?
Are you behind a Router Firewall?
Have you setup appropriate accounts?

Checkout http://www.no-ip.com to get a free domain name to link to the IP Address of the server.

I have this working with Cerberus with a Linksys Router.
You have to add to IP Addresses in the FTP Server setup.
1 for the Router IP.
The other for the ISP IP.

I was using bulletproof then I found a setup walkthrough for "serv-u" so I tried it out and I finally got it to work. it only works for some people though. would assume its their firewall, but how can i be sure? I made it run on port 1103 and it worked fine for a few people, and a few it does not. it showed them connected but they could get the /list to come up, they said it kept searching. and on my side it showed an error, I dont remember what it was really. somethign like "error 426, transfer aborted" or something like that. suggestions?
