When I try to shut down or restart machine I end up with blank blue screen. The only way to shut down is to then hold power button until machine shuts off. Then my power on light blinks until I turn machine on again.

Hi smellyn,
Have you updated Windows2000 with the service pack 2 at Microsoft?

Yes, I think it started right after I did that.

When you installed the service pack, did you select the option to save the backup files so that you could uninstall the service pack?

You can try enabling APM(Advanced Power Management)
in your BIOS. Then enable it in Win2K also. To enable it
go to...
Control Panel
Power Options
APM(tab)
check the
Enable box
This will give you the shutdown screen so you can use
the power button properly. It's a temp fix but it'll do better
than shock-shutting down Windows2000.

Thanks for the reply,
There is no APM tab in my Power Options
