a few days ago something went terribly wrong on my pc. something keeps running in the background slowing everything down and I don't know how to stop it because it just launches itself. Can someone help me fix it? I have windows xp:(

Have you tried a System Restore to a date before the problems?

If restoring to a previous restore point does not work, download, install in own folder, run, save log, copy and paste the log from hijackthis here.
