Hi.

I have the above scanner. It worked perfectly (as far as anything can work perfectly) with win98. I have now installed w2k and although I have installed , uninstalled, changed configurations, changed ports, changed and reset bios the thing just won't initialise when I hit the icon.

Though that is not 100% accurate. Scanwise starts but then tells me to switch on my scanner, a little window appers but "no" scanner shows there :( I have left the scanner on and rebooted but it makes no difference, I have tried everything I can think of, and used advice from Agfa's own documentation all to no avail.

The scanner is loaded, drivers are loaded, the scanner is recognized, no hardware conflicts, no irq conflicts.

HELP? What can the problem be?

Thanks in Advance.

Are the drivers that you loaded, Windows 2000 drivers or are they the 98 drivers?

is it a usb or parallel port scanner.in some scanner(usually old there use to be an lock scanner button.is there any such button at back of the scanner.

if it is an usb scanner. You should never never connect the usb data cble before loading the drivers.if thats the case try disconecting the scanner uninstall the scanner software and then install the scanner driver/software and then connect the usbcable of scanner to the pc.

Hi,
I have the same situation. I have been told that there is a difference on the 1212P scanner depending on whether you have a power button on the front to turn it on , or not. Unfortunately I have the one with the power button and I understand that it will only work with windows 95 or 98. I have just got a second backup PC which is running windowsME so I'm not expecting the scanner to work. I haven't tried it yet but hope to soon. I presume that the only hope for us is that somebody has produced an updated driver somewhere which will work with 2000 and ME. I hope so or I'll have to but a new scanner!
Do any of the experts out there know if there is a crafty solution to this? I think there might be a problem in driver databases if they don't distinguish between the power button and the other one!
Thanks for any help you can give either of us.
James

This suggests it is now W2000 compatible (http://www.agfa.com/digicam_scanner_drivers/scanner/snapscan_1212p_with/)
