Hi All,
I completely cleaned off and reloaded the OS on a friends Dell XPS B1000 PC. I also updated the bios to the current release prior to reloading the OS. Everything was went well on the reinstall, had all the drivers and software I needed. Rolling along really well until I selected shutdown from the shutdown menu. The machine went throught the normal process shutting down, saving your settings ...etc and then instead of powering off it started the boot process. I got the Dell splash screen from the bios and on from there.
It boots fine and seems to work exceptionally well except for this one problem.
The bios settings for power were to return to the last state so I changed the settings to remain off.
Should I downgrade the bios or any other suggestions.
Thank you in advanced.
Bob

Welcome :)

Sounds like an ACPI problem.

In the BIOS check to see that ACPI or Advanced Power Management is enabled.
Also do the same in Windows via the Power Settings control panel applet.

I had a friend whose computer did the same thing. I don't know if you've tinkered inside the computer but what he did was switch the actual power connecters on his computer so that the power button was actually hooked up into the reset section of the motherboard instead of the power. Maybe that will help you.
