Don't you hate it when you're in the middle of installing a program and the computer freezes? I really do. This has happened to me twice, once with No One Lives Forever and a second time with Icewind Dale 2 (my two favorite games!!)

Der problem:
When I insert the disc, the game reads that it's installed, but it's not fully installed, so an error pops up and I have a missing file, etc. The install button is greyed out, and i can't remove the program in add/remove programs, though i click it.

WHAT do I do??

Welcome :)

If you have System Restore available then you could try that.

Else you could try a cleaning program such as Ace Utilities.

If you delete the Program File entry for the games, then run the various cleaning tools it should detect any registry entries associated with the game.

After you should be able to install again.

If you are still unable to install, please tell us more about your computer, operating system, cpu, ram, harddrive size/space available. We may need this info to help you further.

thank you...

Pentium4 2.8ghz
DVD Drive
DVD Burner (NEC ND-2500A)
Windows XP SP1
NVIDIA Geforce-fx 5600SE

The problem was fixed with IWD2 when i cleaned the registry, but the autorun is still loading the uninstall program when i put the NOLF disc in. It says that the uninstall is successful, but it still recognizes that it's there, and I cannot install.
