An easy way to manage your startup programs, as Win9x users know is msconfig.
Unfortunately, Windows 2k does not come with msconfig.... but XP does and msconfig.exe from XP works fine and dandy with Windows 2k.
You can download it here: http://www.thetechguide.com/downloads.html
I put the executable on my desktop and run it whenever I need to change anything.
Be careful with it though. You definately do not want to turn off the wrong service or you will be in a world of hurt. I also wouldn't mess too much with the rest of the tabs, but using this app to limit the startup programs work just fine.
This is the link to the download --> MSCONFIG for Win2K (http://www.thetechguide.com/downloads/msconfig.zip)
