Hey All
Post first, cool. Anyway, I am just wondering, what is the most powerful registry cleaner out there? To be honest, I am a computer clean freak, lol. I dont want anything happen to my computer. I paid good money for it. Just protecting my investment. In the moment, I am trying some registry cleaner programs, but it doesnt seems to clean it THOUGH. I want a program clean the registry though. Any suggestions are welcome. Its doesnt matter what type of software, freeware, shareware, corportation, blah blah blah....
Thanks all.

I use ace utilities. It will clean the registry and the computer as a whole. It also gets good reviews from Cnet/zdnet. There is a 30 day free, uncrippled trial if you want to try it. See link below.

Thanks all. Yeah I totally agee with you all with the program, Ace Utilities. It cleaned my computer well, especially the plugin feature. Although I love this program, the registry program isnt that powerful. After I used that program, I used another registry cleaner program and you know what, it found some more. :\ Man, I wish that somebody could make a powerful registry cleaner program. Oh well, the hunt continues. Any other suggestion?
Thank you

JCThen you already found it, you need to keep using that unnamed program that found stuff that ace utilities did not catch.

sometimes you need to take a look at what is found during the cleaning and consider your choices. Something to think about, how long after you used ace utilities did you try the other registry cleaner, also did you install the other registry cleaner after you cleaned up with ace utilities? Things could have been installed in your registry between cleanings.
I am not saying ace utilities is perfect or even the best. Just find and use one that you trust will not mess up your registry. I do not believe there is one out there that you will be happy with because they all go about cleaning the registry a different way and will miss a item or two.
There are alot of good registry cleaners out there. You can go to download.com and do a search using registry cleaner as keywords. In addition to the list of registry cleaners you will get reviews by users and in some cases by cnet.

I second that aswell.
I've used registry cleaners that clean a bit too much an ruin your system.

I first use the general cleaner - System Mechanic, which bets Ace Utilities by far and then I use Registry First Aid to looking for all the remaining stuff. Since I install many new programs a week I am constantly using it and everythime I get more than 150 registry invalid and junk files. Not only does it automatically search for bad registry files but you can add your own words such as program you recently removed and it will find all traces.
Not every program can guarrantee a 100% clean but I find these two work great. System mechanic even compress the registry upon restart for an even faster machine.

install Roxio Goback, which allows you to goback to a healthy state of the computer if a virus or something bad happens to the system. I have had this program for a couple of years and its a is a life saver. If you are having trouble with system mechanic then you should consider using the manual method.

simple. Clean it yourself manually. That's what I do. I'm sure I don't get all either but if you're fairly knowledgeable you can do it w/o messing up anything.

I was just looking for info about registry cleaners and came upon your posts. I have never used one before so I downloaded Ace Optimizer, it sounded like the safest one for a novice. Do I just run through all the menus and delete all the files it suggests. There are lots of them, my machine is 3.5 years old. From the way you talked about it, it sounds like this program is fairly safe to do this, but I just wanted to be sure. I did make a registry point before I started.
Thanks for all the great info.

I usually have a look through to check what it wants to delete, then uncheck anything that I may want to keep.
Also, it gives you a bit more insight as to what files/entries are on the PC and not needed.

I downloaded and installed Ace Utilities last night and had it clean out my junk files and tidy up my registry and this old beauty isn't creaking with age anymore. Well chuffed!!
Nice One,
