Need help...My System Volume Information folders is
taking up too much space on my drive and causing problems
for my application. Have taken ownership of the folder,
but still can't delete any of the restore points. Tried
to use the Disk cleanup utility and the system restore
tab is greyed out. Tried to edit the system registry to
limit the number of restore points and can't find the
RPLifeInterval Key. I'm at a loss as to what to do next,
any help would be great.

Welcome :)

Does 2003 have the option to Turn Off System Restore, via System Properties>System Restore.
Also in the settings you should be able to reduce the amount of space to be used.

Hello Degs,

No...the system properties does not have the System restore tab like Windows XP does. Any ideas?

Strage, as this page has a guide on how to disable it :D

You could try this,
Add System Restore, which may then give you the System Restore tab

Degs,

Just wanted to say thanks for your help. I finally got rid of the restore points in the System Volume Folder by stopping the Windows Shadow Copy Service. Who knew it would be a simple fix like that..... I didn't even have the shadow copy enabled on the drive.

Danke,

Mel
