WIN2000PRO will not save my desktop wallpaper or active screensaver. I choose the wallpaper and screensaver hit "apply" and all is fine until I shut-down. When I turn-on again, all is lost. Just a solid color appears for the desktop and screensaver! Help? suggestions? Thanx.

Hi there webdude, now that we've got down to one post that we can all concentrate on helping you with and it is now in the only forum that it applied to (nothing to do with software or hardware).

Do you have administrator right on your Win2000 PC or are you a user on an administered LAN?

Thanx. Thought I'd never get an answer....Anyways, I'm the administer.

Try reading this MSKB topic then (http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q280687)
May help point you in the right direction to find the restriction that has been set.

Not sure about the screensaver but I may be able to help with the wallpaper.

Are you using a .jpg as you wallpaper? If so, windows has changed your setup to Active Desktop which is known to be riddled with problems. Try this -

resave your image as a bitmap. Then right click on your desktop and click on properties. Click on the "web" tab and take the checkmark out of "show web content on my active desktop". now choose the bitmap image and click OK.

Roger - Thanks for the tip. I was having a problem with wallpapers too that was solved by your message. I didn't realise it at first but I had a jpg and a bmp version of the same image being shown, one as a wallpaper and one in active desktop. When I tried to change the active desktop image I was still seeing the wallpaper one on startup and shutdown.
