Just read that Aol is getting ready to release the next version of Netscape. I am wondering if anyone here still uses it or if it is outdated and a pain because of all the aol junk in it.

Netscape is needed to keep Bill honest. I just dump the AOL crap.

I agree, personally I don't use Netscape as much as I used to but I do keep a copy of the latest version on my system so I can check the webpages I create. The only thing I really hate about it is after updating, it takes nearly 15 minutes to go through my system and delete everything aol. They like to take over everything.

I wouldn't say that IE is the greatest :D but i'm still an IE user.
I still use other broswers for web design and troubleshooting, but after IE I would goto Firefox.

Much like icq, and winamp - great product but too much AOL :(
Having said that Netscape would have to go a LONG way to tear me away from IE (windows) and Firefox (Linux)

I've never got used to liking Netscape, compared to IE. Maybe that's cos I had IE to start with, I dunno. But as far as IE is concerned, I've used Avant Browser for some time now, I hear folks saying it's what IE should be (it's an IE clone with a lot more bang to it), I do like that browser a lot! :)

It has a very high level of security that surpasses IE and most others and is on par with Mozilla..

I still have Netscape 4.6 on my computer. Along with Mozilla. I use those two exclusively.
I haven't tried the newer versions. Too much AOL junk for me.

I use ie as most things are written for it now(business stuff) so I have to have it. I started with netscape and I'm sorry it is, for all practical purposes, dead. The final nail by AOL. I'm going to have to give up on AIM soon too. The new version wants to install malware by default. What's with that?

What's with that?I agree, aol is killing netscape. instead of making it their default browser giving it a chance to grow, they are making it a joke with all the different links it adds to the computer, to other browsers etc...
Makes me wonder about why aol really purchased netscape.
As far as aim, you can still keep it, just use trillian and don't worry about the malware.
