So I thought I would ask something to get it moving some.
I would like to hear honest opinions on Which Mac OS is the best you have seen to Date, and why. i.e. Quality, dependabilily and such....

Well I'm using 9.04 which is the best I've used, I didn't fancy a three week download to get 9.1
I'm thinking about upgrading to X in the near future.

7.5.3 Was good
8.6 was solid as a rock and very dependable.
9.1 is even better. More stable, faster and more dependable. I hardly ever have a crash anymore.
I had problems (although minor) with 9.04 and about the time I was considering going back to 8.6 Apple released 9.1 thank the Lord. :)
That 70mb download can be hefty though. :)
I'm in absolutely no hurry to upgrade to OSX. It's a first generation OS and I feel better waiting until more of the bugs are worked out and I don't have to work in the emulation/classic mode. So basically I'm waiting until I have to upgrade to OSX for another application.
I really like 9.1.

Ok, now. What is the minimum amount of memory you all feel you need to run these systems with the best results?

I think 64 is the bare minimum for OS 9, that's what the current machines ship with IIRC.
This one's last summer's batch and came with 128, which as of Thursday morning has been upgraded to 256 :D

32mb for 7.5.3
48mb for 8.6
and I agree with Steven 64mb for 9.1.
Although 128 seems to run a lot smoother.
for OSX I would suggest 128 minimum but 256 is much better.

128 is fine for most people, I got the extra 128 because I tend to have a lot of apps open at once, and because it only cost £25 - that that kind of price it seemed rude not to :D

So 9.1 is the choice as of now. Atleast 64mb to run at a stable pace. Of coarse more is better.
So what should be covered next... hmmmm..
Has there been any Noticable changes since Uncle Bill Gates became part of Macs? If so then are they good or bad?

Uhmm... OSX is the change. Windows users feel more at home with it than Mac users.

I guess as more people go to the OSX system then these forums for Macs will really get busy....lol
What is the biggest difference between the PC's version of Windows and the Macs version of Windows?/

You mean the GUI?
Increasingly less as Windows nicks all of the Mac features... trash etc :D

:D Dodge you have to remember the Mac isn't a windows machine. Windows was built to make the PC look and act like the Mac. Apple took the GUI from Xerox and improved upon it. Then Ol' Mr. Gates took the GUI from Apple and altered it enough to make it his and Windows was born.
The biggest difference is that PC's still run DOS and windows runs on top of DOS (Whether it's noticable or not). The Mac (up until OSX) was an all in one thing. There were no seperate platforms within the same system.
Steven's correct though. The more Windows steals from the Mac Os and the more Apple allows Bill Gates to take over operations.... The more they become the same. Only the Mac OS seems to be more stable than Windows has ever even imagined.

Buzz, I aggree with you 100%. I know the PC's are a Mac based system. Uncle Bill stole the design and made it his own. But hey thats buisness though...(I guess)
I have to agree that Macs seem to be much more steady.. My PC runs pretty good, until I get to playing to much.. People at these forums such as this one, make me want to play around with this HP and see how it ticks. I may give it the last Tick one of these days though.. Like the old saying goes. You Play you Pay........lol

I like my OS9 but I do have trouble communicating with the PC world. My computer is real reliable. Easy to use. :)
