date & time crashes G3 powerbook

Hi there. I'm in a right old state. The date and time control panel seems to crash my machine when I open the control panel.
I've reinstalled the system software 9.2.1, but as soon as I go to correct the time it shuts down.

Why is this and how can I rectify the problem?

Hi jim, welcome to the forums :)

I'd start with a PRAM zap - reboot holding down apple, option, p and r until you get the chime for a second time. This operation clears the area of memory where the time is stored, however you'll have to reset a few other little features like keyboard and mouse speed.

I zapped the PRAM, rebuilt desktop, (clean) reinstalled system software. Pretty much everything bar reinitiallising disk. What could the problem be... :(

What about with the MacOS Base extension set active?

it may be a conflict with a 3rd party extension.
