Just downloaded and installed Netscape's version 4.76 (http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=3122) .
I can tell you it's worth the upgrade for no other reason than you can put folders in the personal tool bar folder... which makes organizing your bookmarks waaaaaaaaay easier. Click the link and you can see what else they've fixed or added.

I've been thinking about upgrading for some time now.I tried 4.7.3 and had nothing but "you name it" going on,dumped it.Went to go back to 4.7.2 and found out I trashed it with no back up........ So for some time now I've been at 4.7.1 , which has worked fine.I guess
I'll wait till I rent a vcr tape "gone with the wind http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif" and download 4.7.6... http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yep you sure can. It wasn't to bad downloading, around three hours is all.Another hour to install and check things out.I'm running it at the default memory right now "15.3 on" and so far OK. The bookmark thing was a relief. I had visions of pulling out my backups and going through all that but when I fired it up everything was still there. see ya.
btw..is your email acting up again?

I don't know about you but I have had zero problems with 4.7.6! I've read on other brds also that *most* have no problems. I'm thinking maybe this kinda like what apple did
with the OS 8.5.1 to 8.6...just cleaned up under the hood like deal before OS 9 etc.
I stuck a new pic up on my special page.
Climb no... (http://homepages.go.com/~palws/pics/20The_ground_is_blue.jpg)
522K down to 34K...THE 75K looked better but..

Yeah I've noticed a few improvement as well.. click and hold on the Back button and you can select from a History menu that pops up!

Any news when Gecko gets released ????
I saw the latest Beta MacOS on tv the other night and ewwwww it looks terrible IMHO. I much prefered its predecessors. That horrible new menu that pops up at the bottom of the screen ewwwwww I could NOT use that thing !!!

I agree Mish.. MacOSX does not look like something I'll like! The only real advantage to it is that it's UNIX based... so it can be installed on any UNIX machine. But as far as the rest of it goes.... ugh! They're gunna drag me kicking and screaming into the OS double digits!!!

oh.. and as far as I know there is no definative date for the Gecko. But I'm not exactly looking forward to that either.. they might as well call it IE. And there are reasons why I don't usually use IE.

Care to expand on that mate ???? I often wonder why Netscape users don't use IE.
Is the IE for Macs not very good or something ????
Netscape is going to gradually catch IE up IMHO and become more and more like it. If they don't it won't be long before they go out of business. There is so much that Netscape at present doesn't support. Most of the time it isn't especially what it doesn't support but what it doesn't support fully.
The only reason I don't use Netscape BTW is because I don't like its interface. That combined with I think the top bar is too high and takes up too much of my screen.

It's mainly the interface. I hate that sidebar thing! Ugh!!!! That's a big drawback with NS 6.. they're putting that ugly thing in! I know you can collapse it.. but it's still there looming over me! I prefer the way NS handles Bookmarks too.. especially the 4.76 version! As far as the top bar..... mines smaller than IE's! You just have to set it up right. I realize NS doesn't fully support some coding but who cares! I don't need to buy into the whole VBscript and everything! LOL... IE just wants everything to be VBscript or Jscript! And then there's the type thing! Man everything is HUGE in IE! How the heck can you design accurately when the browser makes all your type so darn large!!! I know NS isn't perfect and there are a few things I don't like about it.. the way it handles Java (that's Java, not javascript) on a Mac is terrible!!!! Basically NS is just more streamlined to me it's not as bulky as IE appears.. that may just be personal preference though. I also like the idea that I don't use 1 stinking bit of MS software on my machines. Not 1!!!!!!! Woooohooooooo.. Screw Bill Gates!
Okay I do have IE installed for testing but that's all I use it for. If I could avoid doing that believe me I would!
