I have an older pent 2 IBM machine trying to load windows 2000 pro I purchased off the internet! I set the bios to boot 3.5 then CD rom then hard drive. It won;t auto install, the person I got the O/S from said I need to go to bootdisk.com and make some floppy boot disks. I did this and downloaded to a floppy but the machine doesn't see A operating system. I cqn use a 98 floppy to fdisk and format but then it won't see the 2000 system Can anyone help a first timer on here as how to get this to work??:dizzy:

You should be able to set the bios to boot to cd and then just load it from there, I did it on the same type of machine back in February without a problem. Set the BIOS to boot to cd, put the cd in, reboot the machine and it should walk you thru the install. Should even format for you.

This Cd won't auto run infact I can't find a setup when I do a dir, It has exhume and that is a exe. file Let me say this CD is a full install of 2000 pro with key code but its not microsoft, bought off internet and if I am going to stop payment need to do it today. Anyone know about bootdisk .com? If I down load the floppies will they install from a floppy or do I need to install to a CD rom? Tried to unzip and then they wont go back on a floppie! The4 hard drive on this machine is clean, bare bones dry, this CD just sits there! HELP

Is it a microsoft cdrom at all or did you by a pirated edition of some sorts...Well in any event the startup disks are on my site below on the freeware link.

I was told it was a legal copy with the key code, but in looking at it it looks like a copy. But what can I do now but stop payment, and if it is legal and I can get it to work then it might be worth it!

See this (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/ww/default.mspx) on how to tell if you have a valid copy.
