SoundBlaster Live Value problem?

I recently installed Mandrake 10.0. Everything is ok except I cannot get any sound out of either of my CD drives. I downloaded xcdroast, saved the cd to the hard drive and then I could play the cd. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to CTH,

I have some...... Interesting news

There have been very few cases that this card has worked. Also, is this card from a dell? If it is or not, I have a tread started where I have the same issue. Read it and see if it help you out any, I'm interested if it works for you. If so, let me know exactly what you did.

here is my thread.

Sound card issue

Thanks for responding. This is not a Dell computer. It is a machine I built myself. Sound worked fine in Mandrake 9.2. I have checked everything that was in the posts and still nothing. I guess I will try to re-install and if that doesn't work, I will go back to 9.2. (The sound card works: I get all the start-up sounds and beeps.) Thanks again.

Yes, The value card and the dell screw over cards act the same in any OS so far. The dell version (model# SB0200) did work in 9.2, but not in 10. I have tried all OSS, Kernel, Support rooms and ect. So for, not so good. Sorry
